Created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the series originally aired on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008. It is set in a world divided into four nations—the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads—where "benders" telekinetically manipulate their respective elements. The story follows , the long-lost Avatar and only individual capable of mastering all four elements, as he and his friends work to end a century-long war waged by the Fire Nation.
